John 14, 15, 16 & 17
1. Find a central theme in each chapter.
2. List all the names, characteristics and functions of the Holy Spirit that you find.
3. Find how many times the words "abide" and "bear fruit" appear in chapter 15.
4. If you break a stem off of a flower, it dies. The same with us. We can't disconnect ourselves from Christ and expect to be spiritually healthy and fruitful. (John 15:1-8)
5. What can you do without Christ? (John 15:5)___________
6. In John 15:18-21, what can you expect the world (those without Christ) to feel toward you?
7. In John 16:8-14, name some of the things the Holy Spirit shows or reveals to you.
8. John 17:14-16 - Wow! In the world but not of it. Can you do it? (Remember, "what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his own soul". Mt. 16:26)
9. Chapter 17 is an absolutely beautiful prayer Jesus prays to His Father about "us". Think of yourself as Christ prays this - He had you in mind!
10. Write down the most powerful truths, to you, from each chapter.
11. Try to memorize some of the verses. (Try John 15:5, John 15:7, John 14:6...too many to mention - just let the Spirit lead you.)
Set up a quiet time with the LORD.
Set a specific place and time and stick with it as much as possible.
Remember: If you don't schedule time in for the LORD, it won't happen!
